6.  If either party was born outside the United States, he/she must present a valid passport or naturalization certificate or residency card (green card).

Age Requirement:

If either applicant for a marriage license is under 18 years of age, but more than 16 years of age, the marriage is lawful and a license may be issued if the applicants provide:  written consent of both parents, tutor of applicant, person to whom custody of applicant has been awarded, or an order from a judge or juvenile court.
If either applicant is under 16 years of age, the marriage is lawful and a license may be issued if the applicants provide:  written consent of both parents, tutor of applicant, person to whom custody of applicant has been awarded, AND an order from a judge of juvenile court.

General Information:

A Louisiana marriage license is valid in any parish in Louisiana for a period of 30 days from issuance.
There is a 72-hour waiting period between the time of issuance of the license and the ceremony.
The waiting period must be waived by a district judge or justice of the peace in the parish where the license was issued.
Newlyweds should order a certified copy of their marriage license two weeks after the marriage to ensure that the license has been returned and recorded.
